Nonna Randazzo’s Traditional King Cake is a classic New Orleans-style king cake from the Randazzo family recipe (dating back to 1965). It’s a hand-braided sweet dough infused with cinnamon, baked into a ring, topped with rich homemade white icing, and finished with colorful nonpareils (sprinkles) in purple, green, and gold Mardi Gras colors. A small plastic baby is hidden inside (the finder brings the next cake or good luck!).

Cinnamon-swirled braided brioche-style dough (not too dry, thanks to the braiding), sweet icing, and crunchy sprinkles. No filling in the traditional version.
