Since 1985, Jean-Yves Bordier has been hand-churning some of the world’s most celebrated butter from his creamery in Saint-Malo, Brittany. Le Beurre Bordier’s Espelette Pepper Butter is a testament to that craft — rich, grass-fed salted butter infused with the spicy, colourful warmth of Piment d’Espelette, the prized Basque chilli pepper with protected designation of origin status.
Born from a chance encounter with an Espelette producer in 2008, this butter balances the deep creaminess of Bordier’s signature churn with a gentle, lingering heat that elevates everything it touches. Spread it on warm bread, melt it over a grilled rib of beef, stir it into mashed potatoes, or use it to finish a fish en papillote or red mullet fillets.
